Our Story

It’s simple really—three gals, two sisters (Jen & Melissa) and their cousin (Sarah) all love bows and accessories. As children our grandmother, Sally, loved to dress us all alike at Christmas, Easter, Valentines, Thanksgiving, National Cheese Day—really any occasion. Our grandmother was blessed with three boys—Paul, Steve, and Mike. So she missed out on dressing up little girls and was delighted when we came along so she could indulge in all things girly. We loved it and still do.

To this day, we all have similar tastes but our styles vary. You’ll see this come out in the collections. Melissa is sleek and elegant, Jen is classic and trendy, and Sarah is modern-traditional but with wild colors and monograms anything that sits still.

As kiddos running around breakfast with Santa (where our Papa was always Santa) we were dubbed—Sal’s Gals. Together we are honored to continue Megan’s vision of accessorizing with classic and trendy styles while empowering entrepreneurial women. A bit about our team...

Jen has worked with Willow Crowns since 2018. She started out making bows and for the last 3 years she’s hosted the studio in her home and managed the day-to-day needs of the company as the Operations Manager. Her background was in the corporate world until she become a mom in 2012 and switched gears to stay at home with her kiddos. Just like her grandmother Sally, Jen is a boy mom but loves all things girly, monogrammed, and matching.

Melissa has spent her career working in the field of Early Care and Education. Currently as Director of Education and Curriculum, she has always loved working with the youngest members of our communities. She has always loved fashion and keeping up with current trends and styles. She lives with her husband, Erick and cat, GiGi in Charlotte, NC and loves Pilates, reading and baking for friends and family.

Sarah is an independent digital marketing consultant with a background that spans almost every industry—fashion, cooking, home development, industrial products, home and garden, insurance and more. She has two kiddos—Annie and Will—that keep her busy when she isn’t posting and helping brands grow their business.

Willow Crowns was originally founded and run by Megan Birkel in 2013. After ten years of amazing collections and growth, she decided to retire from the bow making business. Thanks, Megan, for everything—we hope to make you proud!
